Foundation for Holocaust Victims

Mission Statement

We care. We help the elderly Holocaust survivors in their old age.

We remember. We support educational and pious commemorative events remembering the Holocaust victims.

We think ahead. We are helping to preserve the traditions – we support the education on Judaism and development of Jewish communities.

We restore. We participate in restoration of Jewish monuments destroyed by Nazi and Communist totalitarian regimes.

We compensated. We helped to rectify and mitigate the property injustices caused during the WWII.

Seminar for educators and lecturers of Czech Jewish organisations

On 30th April the FHV organised a seminar for teachers and lecturers of Czech Jewish educational institutions. This special study day, which was attended by 35 participants, was organised with the support of JDC, Lauder foundation, Federatopn of Jewish communities and Prague Jewish Community. During the day, the following lecturers adressed the audience of teachers: Mario Izcovich (JDC), rabbi Joshua Spinner (Lauder foundation) and Nicola Abery (Look to Learn.) We wish to thank all participants and lecturers for a fruitful day and we are looking forward to future mutual projects.

Jom ha-shoa

We wish to thank all the people that joined us this year for the traditional reading of names of Czech victims of holocaust at the Prague Namesti Miru. We also wish to thank the Terezin Iniciative Institute for cooperation, namely its director Tereza Stepkova. Pictures of the event can be seen in our galery.

Judita Matyasova´s lecture

We wish to invite you to the lecture of Judita Matyasova, the Czech journalist and writer. The lecture is called "Czech Sophie´s Choice - the stories of teenagers in Denmark and Sweden in 1939 – 1945. The event shall take place in Czech Center in Prague, Rytirska 31, Praha 1.

Exhibition return of Frantisek Langer to Vinohrady

The society of Frantisek and Jiri Langer and Vinohrady Theatre wishes to invite you to the exhibition "Return of Frantisek Langer to Vinohrady." The exhibition maps the private and artistic life of the writer.

The exhibition can be seen from 5th March to 30th June 2013 and is also available to the visitors of the theatre.

Yom ha-Shoa

We wish to invite you to this year´s traditional "Reading of names" which shall take place at Namesti Miru in Prague on 8th April 2013 from 2pm to 5pm.

This year´s event shall mark the 70th aniversary of the Warshaw Ghetto uprising.
